The Basics to A Drivers License
Revised online requirements for minors under 17.5 years old. Valid January 2011.
1. Be 15 years old . Enroll and finish the Driver Ed Course online. You'll receive a PINK Online Driver Education Completion Certificate #DL400C. Parents must sign.
2. Complete a DMV Application # DL44 available at the DMV. It cannot be downloaded or copied. It must be an original.
3. Be 15 1/2 years old. Go to the DMV with the PINK Certificate , proof of age, Social Security Card and the DMV application ( must be signed by BOTH parents; a single parent must show proof of sole custody ).
4. Pass the written test. Receive your Permit immediately.
5. Make your first driving appointment. Your Learner's Permit is not valid unless signed by your driving instructor.
6. Finish a total of 6 hours driving lessons. You'll receive a GOLD DMV Driver Training Completion Certificate.
7. Practice driving with your family 50 hours or more (10 hours at night) for the next (at least) six months. Parent must sign affirmation.
8. After six months you qualify to take the Driving Test at the DMV. Make an appointment. Bring the GOLD Certificate . Pass. Receive a Drivers License.
